About ERP and the Project
Energy Resilience Partners, LLC (ERP) is a tribally led SBA 8(a) federal contractor advancing energy resilience and mission assurance. ERP is deploying a project team for the Fort Buchanan installation-level microgrid in Puerto Rico. The work includes diesel generation, medium-voltage distribution, microgrid controls, protective relaying, fuel infrastructure, fiber communications, optional BESS, integration of existing renewable generation, and full system commissioning.
Position Summary
Lead independent commissioning of electrical generation and distribution equipment, including generators, transformers, medium-voltage switchgear, protective relays, DC systems, metering, grounding, cables, interlocks, and interfaces to the microgrid controller.
What You Will Do
- Review electrical design, submittals, studies, settings, test plans, OEM procedures, and commissioning readiness.
- Develop/witness FAT, site acceptance, insulation/resistance, primary/secondary injection, relay, breaker, transformer, grounding, DC, cable, and functional tests.
- Verify calibrated test equipment, results, deficiencies, corrective actions, retesting, and commissioning records.
- Support synchronization, protection, islanding, black-start, restoration, metering, and integrated system performance testing.
- Coordinate with the CxC, CQC, electrical contractor, OEMs, controls, utility, and Government.
Minimum Qualifications
- NETA-certified engineering technician with at least 5 years inspecting, testing, and calibrating electrical distribution and generation equipment.
- Experience on at least two projects of similar size and complexity.
- Ability to work through the independent Commissioning Firm and travel to Puerto Rico and FAT locations.
- Current certifications maintained for the entire assignment and no disqualifying recent disciplinary action.
Preferred Qualifications
- NETA Level III or IV, PE, NICET, relay-manufacturer certification, or equivalent advanced testing credentials.
- Microgrid, BESS, IEEE 1547/2030.8, generator paralleling, and USACE experience.
Field, Travel and Employment Conditions
- This is a contingent opportunity dependent on contract award/NTP, project funding, final staffing authorization, Government acceptance when required, and successful installation-access processing.
- When on site, work may involve tropical heat and humidity, rain, uneven terrain, stairs/ladders, construction noise, required PPE, and extended, weekend, outage, emergency, or alternate-shift hours.
