About ERP and the Project
Energy Resilience Partners, LLC (ERP) is a tribally led SBA 8(a) federal contractor advancing energy resilience and mission assurance. ERP is deploying a project team for the Fort Buchanan installation-level microgrid in Puerto Rico. The work includes diesel generation, medium-voltage distribution, microgrid controls, protective relaying, fuel infrastructure, fiber communications, optional BESS, integration of existing renewable generation, and full system commissioning.
Position Summary
Own technical integration of the microgrid control system, paralleling controls, protective relays, generator/BESS interfaces, meters, HMI/SCADA, industrial networks, existing solar/wind assets, and the LUMA point of interconnection. The lead converts the operational description into coordinated, testable control logic and field execution.
What You Will Do
- Lead control architecture, I/O, communications, sequence-of-operations, alarm, interlock, synchronization, islanding, black-start, and restoration coordination.
- Review and coordinate vendor submittals, network diagrams, points lists, control narratives, relay logic, software versions, and interface-control documents.
- Coordinate the MCS supplier, generator controls, BESS controls, switchgear, relays, meters, fiber/network, cyber SME, EOR, and utility.
- Plan and execute FAT, field installation acceptance, loop checks, SAT, functional performance tests, integrated system tests, training, and warranty support.
- Maintain configuration baselines, backups, redlines, issues, test evidence, and approved change records.
- Support commissioning readiness certificates and rapid root-cause resolution of integration issues.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical, controls, automation, or computer engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
- At least 8 years designing, programming, testing, or integrating industrial power controls; at least 3 years with microgrids, paralleling systems, DER, or utility automation.
- Experience with PLC/SCADA, Modbus/DNP3/IEC protocols, protective relays, time synchronization, industrial Ethernet, and functional testing.
- Ability to spend extended periods in Puerto Rico during integration and commissioning and to travel for FAT.
Preferred Qualifications
- IEEE 1547/2030.8, SEL/Schweitzer, generator paralleling, BESS, LUMA/PREPA, NETA, or DoD facility-related control-system experience.
- Cybersecurity/RMF/STIG familiarity and Spanish proficiency.
Field, Travel and Employment Conditions
- This is a contingent opportunity dependent on contract award/NTP, project funding, final staffing authorization, Government acceptance when required, and successful installation-access processing.
- When on site, work may involve tropical heat and humidity, rain, uneven terrain, stairs/ladders, construction noise, required PPE, and extended, weekend, outage, emergency, or alternate-shift hours.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, follow drug-free workplace and conduct requirements, and protect FCI/CUI using only authorized systems and procedures.
- ERP encourages applications from qualified Native American, Puerto Rican, veteran, military-spouse, disabled, and local candidates. ERP provides equal employment opportunity consistent with applicable law.
Application Materials
- Resume showing month/year dates, employer, role, project scope/value, client, and personal responsibilities.
- Copies of required current licenses/certifications with expiration dates.
- Comparable-project list and references where requested, Puerto Rico availability, earliest mobilization date, and requested employment/consulting arrangement.
