About ERP and the Project
Energy Resilience Partners, LLC (ERP) is a tribally led SBA 8(a) federal contractor advancing energy resilience and mission assurance. ERP is developing a contingent project team for the Fort Buchanan installation-level microgrid in Puerto Rico. The work includes diesel generation, medium-voltage distribution, microgrid controls, protective relaying, fuel infrastructure, fiber communications, optional BESS, integration of existing renewable generation, and full system commissioning.
Position Summary
Perform IBC Chapter 17 special inspections as an independent third party, separate from the contractor and subcontractor whose work is inspected. Openings may include structural steel/bolting, structural welding, weld NDT, cold-formed steel, reinforced concrete, soils/fill/load-bearing verification, and EIFS.
What You Will Do
- Attend applicable preparatory meetings and perform continuous or periodic inspections required by the approved inspection schedule.
- Verify materials, certifications, installation, testing, and workmanship for the discipline in which the inspector is approved.
- Issue daily and biweekly reports, immediately identify discrepancies, and verify corrective work.
- Maintain independence, calibration/qualification evidence, NDT practices where applicable, and complete final-report inputs.
- Coordinate access and reporting with the Special Inspection Agency, CQC Manager, Structural Engineer of Record, and Government.
Minimum Qualifications
- Steel/bolting: ICC Structural Steel and Bolting Special Inspector plus 1 year related experience, or PE plus 3 years.
- Structural welding: ICC Structural Welding Special Inspector plus 1 year, or AWS Certified Welding Inspector.
- Weld NDT: NDT Level III (SI) or Level II plus 1 year (associate, under required supervision).
- Cold-formed steel: qualifying ICC building/steel credential plus 1 year, or PE plus 3 years.
- Concrete: ICC Reinforced Concrete SI plus 1 year, ACI Concrete Construction SI, or PE plus 3 years.
- Soils/fill: ICC Soils SI plus 1 year, NICET Soils II, GIT plus 3 years, or PE plus 3 years.
- EIFS: AWCI EIFS, Exterior Design Institute, or qualified PE/RA with related experience.
- Ability to work independently on site in Puerto Rico and obtain Government approval/access.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior USACE/federal special-inspection reporting and Puerto Rico construction experience.
- Multiple current ICC/ACI/AWS/NICET/NDT credentials and Spanish proficiency.
Field, Travel and Employment Conditions
- This is a contingent opportunity dependent on contract award/NTP, project funding, final staffing authorization, Government acceptance when required, and successful installation-access processing.
- When on site, work may involve tropical heat and humidity, rain, uneven terrain, stairs/ladders, construction noise, required PPE, and extended, weekend, outage, emergency, or alternate-shift hours.
