About ERP and the Project
Energy Resilience Partners, LLC (ERP) is a tribally led SBA 8(a) federal contractor advancing energy resilience and mission assurance. ERP is developing a contingent project team for the Fort Buchanan installation-level microgrid in Puerto Rico. The work includes diesel generation, medium-voltage distribution, microgrid controls, protective relaying, fuel infrastructure, fiber communications, optional BESS, integration of existing renewable generation, and full system commissioning.
Position Summary
Lead technical commissioning and integration of the microgrid control system before and during construction and through the warranty period. The specialist is the primary technical point of contact for integrated controls, industrial communications, generator/BESS coordination, existing renewable assets, protection, and operating modes.
What You Will Do
- Review control architecture, sequence of operations, points, alarms, interlocks, protection interfaces, communications, and testability.
- Develop/witness MCS FAT, network/loop checks, SAT, subsystem tests, and integrated IEEE 1547/2030.8-aligned performance tests.
- Validate black start, islanding, synchronization, reconnection, real/reactive power, ride-through, metering, monitoring, and restoration functions.
- Coordinate MCS, generator, BESS, switchgear, relay, utility, cybersecurity, electrical, OEM, and CQC interfaces.
- Own integration issues through root-cause analysis, correction, retest, configuration backup, training, and warranty support.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 5 years inspecting, testing, and calibrating microgrid control systems, including two projects of similar size and complexity.
- Training and experience with industrial communication networks.
- Strong PLC/SCADA, generator paralleling, relay, power-management, HMI, and functional-test capability.
- Ability to support extended Puerto Rico field periods and maintain availability during warranty integration issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- IEEE 1547, IEEE 2030.8, DNP3, Modbus, IEC protocols, SEL, BESS, renewable integration, and utility-interconnection experience.
- DoD/USACE control-system and cybersecurity familiarity.
Field, Travel and Employment Conditions
- This is a contingent opportunity dependent on contract award/NTP, project funding, final staffing authorization, Government acceptance when required, and successful installation-access processing.
- When on site, work may involve tropical heat and humidity, rain, uneven terrain, stairs/ladders, construction noise, required PPE, and extended, weekend, outage, emergency, or alternate-shift hours.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, follow drug-free workplace and conduct requirements, and protect FCI/CUI using only authorized systems and procedures.
- ERP encourages applications from qualified Native American, Puerto Rican, veteran, military-spouse, disabled, and local candidates. ERP provides equal employment opportunity consistent with applicable law.
Application Materials
- Resume showing month/year dates, employer, role, project scope/value, client, and personal responsibilities.
- Copies of required current licenses/certifications with expiration dates.
- Comparable-project list and references where requested, Puerto Rico availability, earliest mobilization date, and requested employment/consulting arrangement.
